Design Concept:

An annex extension is proposed for a primary school and kindergarten which was built in 1960s. The new extension has provided a indoor assembly hall and upgraded function rooms as well as pedestrian segregation from the vehicle access, etc. The proposed scheme would be a slender block extended from the stairs core on the Northeast. It provides a courtyard to allow daylight and natural ventilation to north-facing windows of the existing classrooms.

There is lacking of outdoor / semi-outdoor activity spaces for students. The existing activity spaces are scattered inside the campus. So the school needs a 'Focal Event Space' as the heart and identity of the campus which could be easily accessed and visible. The platform on the 1/F floor would be designed as a outdoor playground / event space which is separated from vehicle parking, provided with landscape features and a few steps as a spectator stand.
